British luxury automaker McLaren Automotive has projected a strong growth of 30 percent in India’s super sports car segment for the year ahead. The company aims to deliver around 20 vehicles to Indian customers in 2024, recovering from a temporary slowdown last year caused by supply chain disruptions.
McLaren entered the Indian market in November 2022 and recently introduced its flagship super sports car, the 750S, priced at Rs 5.91 crore. Manufactured at McLaren’s Composites Technology Centre (MCTC) in Yorkshire, UK, the 750S is noted as the lightest and most powerful production model from the brand. It accelerates from 0 to 200 km/h in just 7.2 seconds, with the Spider version achieving the same in 7.3 seconds.
Lalit Choudary, Chairman and Managing Director of Infinity Cars—the official McLaren dealer in India—shared insights on the segment’s outlook. He noted that while 2021 served as a rebuilding year post-Covid, 2022 showed positive growth and 2023 performed even better. The expectation is for 2024 to surpass these gains with continued momentum.
“Last year we faced a brief production gap due to the transition between models, which caused a small dip in sales. This year, we hope to deliver around 20 McLaren cars,” Choudary said. Currently, approximately 30 McLaren vehicles are on the roads across India.
With the launch of the 750S, McLaren now offers three models in India—the GT, the Artura hybrid, and the new 750S—strengthening its presence in the luxury super sports car market.
